Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Bass High School has a strong uniform policy and a number of expectations in regards to students wearing the uniform.

Bass High School expects that uniform is worn by all students and ensures that school uniform community standards and is consistent with OH&S, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation.

The school uniform is integral to the maintenance of Bass High School's high standards and expectations regarding student achievement and behaviour. Our uniform policy is a result of extensive consultation with the school community over a number of years and is a feature of our Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support program.

Through the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS) program, both teachers and student leaders will explicitly teach students at assemblies, roll call and other student meetings, that correct wearing of uniform is valued by the school and the wider community and is a positive part of belonging to Bass High School for the following reasons:

  • Wearing correct uniform builds a sense of community and ownership in the student body, ensuring pride in the school as well as forming a lasting impression of the school in the wider community.
  • Builds students' self esteem and confidence.
  • Provides a clear identification of students within the school and community.
  • Wearing correct uniform allows students to participate in extra curricular activities such as excursions and other formal school functions.
  • Wearing correct uniform develops skills in students about meeting safety expectations that are important in working life.

From the beginning of Term 1, Bass High School will continue to monitor the wearing of correct uniform. Students repeatedly out of uniform may be placed on detention.

Please use the school holidays to ensure your child has the correct uniform.

If you require support or have questions or concerns please contact the school as soon as possible.

Regards,

Mr David Horton
