Languages - German
Learning another language allows our students to have access to so many new opportunities. Whilst learning German, students explore the similarities and differences between various world cultures and our own cultures. Students begin to appreciate and understand the complex relationships between culture and language and the way in which language shapes culture (and visa versa).
With knowledge of the German language, students increase their opportunities and options after school. Whether it be in business, a more global career, tourism, hospitality, science, research, communication, intercultural understanding, travel, art, music, literature, philosophy or opportunities to work and study in Germany and German speaking countries, having a good understanding of the German language gives our students an extra advantage.
‘Languages Other Than English' (LOTE - German) is a mandatory subject in year 8 and offered as an elective class in following years. This subject currently utilises online material to enhance our students learning and understanding. These resources can be found on the student portal under eBackpack.
