The study of English helps us to better understand the world and ourselves. By developing proficiency in English, students take their place as confident communicators, critical and imaginative thinkers, lifelong learners and active participants in Australian society. English at Bass High is both challenging and enjoyable. It develops skills in the key areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing, through engagement with texts of the past and of the present. As the national language, English also provides the foundation for learning in all other subjects.
