Year 9 Advisor 2018

             Year Advisor

     Mr. A. Rowland (HSIE)

   Assistant Year Advisor

     Ms. L. Cousin (Creative Arts)

2018 is another exciting and important year for Year 9 students at Bass High School. Many opportunities to connect, succeed and thrive are available to all students at Bass High. In year 9 students are able to participate in elective subjects. Electives allow students to learn about specific areas of study that they have chosen for themselves. Subjects like Agriculture, Photography and Commerce are just some of the options available to Year 9 Students at Bass High.

2018 is the last opportunity for our grade to participate in NAPLAN. This national test for literacy and numeracy will take place on the 15th to 17th May 2018.  In order to help support students in preparation for NAPLAN students are reminded of the assistance they can receive at Homework Centre as well as in class. Homework Centre is available to all students every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the school term. Students attending Homework Centre can work together and with specialist teachers in the school library at no cost.

Attendance to The Sydney Royal Easter Show and Jamberoo will again be possible for students who demonstrate they can consistently be Safe Respectful Learners. Year 9 students will also have many other opportunities to be rewarded with school-based activities through Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and VIVO merit system.

Year 9 will continue to participate in Wellbeing Lessons once a fortnight. These lessons, conducted by myself and Mrs. Cousin, aim to help students deal with various challenges in their lives and promote health, happiness and success.

On the sporting field students will again be participating in the school swimming carnival, athletics carnival and cross-country events. There will be a number of representative sporting opportunities for students throughout 2018, including soccer, netball and rugby league. As we have many gifted athletes in Year 9 there will be no doubt that students will be achieving highly in and out of the classroom.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding student welfare please don't hesitate to contact the school.
