"As part of the ‘Sporting Schools' pilot program run in conjunction with the Australian Commission, Bass High School has been fortunate to have had coaches from the Greater Western Sydney Giants AFL team conduct several practical workshops at the school with Year 9 PASS students. All of the newly learnt skills will be used in an upcoming Gala Day run by the AFL, organised to highlight the benefit physical activity plays in every day life".

2015

Congratulations to the Open Boys Rugby League who represented Bass high with pride, finishing 2nd in Western Sydney for Schoolboy Cup and winning the St Marys Cup in the last 2 days (they will be obviously a bit sore at the moment). At the end of last term William Kei represented NSWCHS at the Australian championships where they finished 2nd and he was a fine ambassador for Bass High School and Rugby League. I have also just been informed Isaac Lumelume has been selected in the NSWCHS Open Development team to tour New Zealand in late September as well, which is a great result for our captain who always leads by example. Also following on from the Open Girls State championship win, 8 Bass Girls Raecene Mcgregor, Page McGregor, Tiarna Dunn, Natasha Gadd, Anna Fifita, Milliama Fialago, Betty Mose and Ierome Bec Mose made the regional SSW Rugby union team which is a great reflection of their dedication and hard work. This is great for the girls and we should be very proud of them.  Thanks, Bass Bulls 2015

"Last week the U15's Boys soccer team participated in the 2nd round of the Bill Turner Cup Competition against Bossley Park High School. The game, played at the state of the art Sydney United Sports Centre was tightly contested, with Bossley Park eventually overpowering the gallant Bass High School team. All of the players put in an amazing effort and showed many skills throughout the game. Congratulations to Mr Naumovski and the players for their participation this season".

"The Bass High School Open Girls Soccer Team are Regional Champions! After defeating Liverpool Girls High School 6-0 in game one of the central venue tournament, the girls courageously defeated Cecil Hills High School 1-0 after a hard fought game. Despite losing a number of players to injury prior to the game, the girls defended brilliantly to protect their one goal advantage. Jade Averillo scored the watch winner just after the stroke of half time after some great lead up work from Emma Thomas. Special mentions go to captain Tiarna Dunn, Emily Preddy and Page and Raecene McGregor who had massive games! The next stop is the CHS final series, to be played on the south coast. Congratulations again girls, we are so proud of you! Mr De Jong and Mr Montague"

Soccer Report

Open Girls Soccer (football) defeated  East Hills Girls in their first match of the State Knockout competition.
After winning by forfeit and a bye Bass  had very little lead up to this important knockout match. East Hills Girls had been regional finalists last year and were a strong opponent.
Indeed, in the first half of this match Bass girls looked a little rusty and were a bit shocked to go a goal behind. Soon the team started to find it's feet and a few good moves resulted in the equaliser. Just before half-time Bass went a goal ahead and feeling a bit more confident.
A couple of tactical and positional changes in the second half meant that Bass dominated the game and soon went further ahead. East Hills Girls lost their energy and their determination allowing Bass to open up their defence with incisive passing and some good finishes. The score could have been even higher but the strong result was very encouraging and should make all the players feel confident going into the central venue round on the 10th of June.
