Year 11 Advisor

             Year Advisor

     Ms. B-J. Byrne

   Assistant Year Advisor

     Mr. C. Strauss

2018 began with Year 11 beginning their new HSC subjects. Students were given time and opportunities to ensure their timetables reflected the pathways they intend to take. Many students now have period zero lessons beginning at 8am to enable the subject content to be taught effectively; there are also lessons where students are able to study in the Senior Learning Centre working on their assessments.

There are many highlights to look forward to this year. Firstly, Year 11 students will be participating in a police workshop on March 13th, this will be followed up with the Wellbeing rewards excursion to the Sydney Easter Show. Future Wellbeing sessions will support students in their time management when revising, how to study and how to perform best in assessments.

Ms Choucair, Careers Advisor, has worked tirelessly to assist many students with School Based Apprenticeships and EVET courses, as well as constantly offering taster sessions, information sessions and visits to employers and higher education institutions. A recent well attended careers day was at Bankstown Airport to see the jobs employed there.

This year will also see Year 11 actively participate in a wide array of sports including knockout sport teams and in the swimming, athletics and cross country carnival. The introduction of the House system means that key Year 11 students will need to take a leadership role to support their houses.

Students have already taken part in a vote to help decide on the design for the Year 12 jackets which they will be wearing from term 4 this year. Many students are excited about planning for their formal- scary to think this will be in 20 months' time!

Please remember the homework centre is open Tuesdays-Thursdays until 4.30pm with teachers on hand to help along computers and printing facilities.
