Year 10 Advisor 2018

             Year Advisor

     Miss. C. Eady (English)

   Assistant Year Advisor

     Mr. R. de Rooy (Maths

This year is an exceptionally busy and important year for Year 10 students. Myself and Mr De Rooy are very proud to be the Year Advising team for Year 10 and are anticipating a very busy and proactive year for students.

There are many highlights to look forward to this year. Firstly, Year 10 students will be participating in wellbeing workshops in Term 1 about positive relationship, this will be followed up with the Wellbeing rewards excursion to the Easter Show. Through wellbeing lessons and student career days, Year 10 students will be working closely with Ms Choucair to complete work experience blocks, actively participate in career workshops and excursions. The purpose of this is to encourage students to think about their future learning and employment outcomes. This term will also see some students attempt the National Minimum Standards Testing to achieve a band 8 level in literacy and numeracy.

This year will also see Year 10 actively participate in a wide array of sports including knockout sport teams and in the swimming, athletics and cross country carnival.

During terms two and three students will begin discussing and planning their subject selections for senior schooling including their Higher School Certificate courses, information about this will be distributed to students and parents throughout the year. This will become the most important decision students will make for their senior education.

Throughout the year students will consistently be assessed in all key learning areas, and during their final year of junior school students must attempt and complete ALL assessment tasks in order to attain their Year 10 ROSA. Students who do not comply may not be eligible for their ROSA and go on to further study.

As always term 4 will conclude with students being invited to the end of year Wellbeing excursion to Jamberoo. This year is shaping up to be a very exciting and productive year for Year 10 students at Bass High School. As always I extend a warm  invitation to any parents who would like to meet with me to discuss their child's learning or welfare needs. I am looking forward to a very busy and fulfilling year.
